Olympic Qualification

The 18th FINA Diving World Cup 2012 is a qualification opportunity for the London 2012 Olympic Games, according to the criteria listed below. For full details of Olympic qualification, please see the ‘Qualification System for the Games of the XXX Olympiad, London 2012’.

Synchronised events
Eight (8) teams will compete in each synchronised event, with teams qualified by NOC/National Federation (NF) as follows:
– The three (3) best-ranked teams at the 14th FINA World Championships (Shanghai, July 2011).
– The four (4) best-ranked teams at the 18th FINA Diving World Cup 2012 (London, February 2012) that did not qualify through the 14th FINA World  Championships.
– One (1) team from the host nation will be allocated a quota place in each synchronised event.

Individual events
A maximum of 34 divers may compete in each individual event. Divers will qualify by NOC/NF as follows, with quota places awarded to NOCs:
– The 12 best-ranked finalists in each individual event at the 14th FINA World Championships (Shanghai, July 2011).
– The winners of each individual event from each of the five (5) continental championships, as designated by FINA and conducted in 2011–12 prior to the 18th FINA Diving World Cup 2012.
– Up to 18 semi-finalists (until the quota of 34 divers per event is fulfilled) from the 18th FINA Diving World Cup 2012, with a maximum of two (2) divers per NOC.
– Remaining additional divers competing in the 18th FINA Diving World Cup 2012 on Day 6 (or in accordance with the agreed schedule of the World Cup programme) will obtain a quota place for their NOC until the quota of 34 divers per event is fulfilled.

Individual divers may only obtain one (1) quota place per event for their NOC.
