WHiPA are delighted to announce that a 2017 WHiPA Lloyd Morrison Aquatic Athlete Scholarship has been awarded to water polo athlete Brydie Pye.
Brydie started playing water polo at the age of 10 after watching her older siblings play the sport. She first represented New Zealand at the age of 14 in the New Zealand under 15 water polo team.
The following year she became the captain of the NZ u15 team. Brydie continued to represent New Zealand in the u16, u17 and schoolgirls teams. In 2012 she gained a full scholarship to play water polo and study at the University of the Pacific in northern California, USA, for four years. A year after she returned back to New Zealand, she has been selected in the New Zealand Womens’ team to compete at the World Championships in Hungary this July.
